One week Sahara and Atlas tour

Marrakesh ,Atlas, Oasis, Sahara, one week 4WD tour in riads and kasbahs,

Day 1 : Marrakesh

Arrival at Marrakesh Menara airport, transfer to riad Marhbabikoum riad. Dinner and overnight in a riad .

Day 2 : Marrakesh, sightseeing and visit

Visit of the old city (medina) : Bahia Palace, Ben Youssef coranic school, the souks, museums and jemma el fna square. Free lunch.Overnight at a riad.

Day 3 : Marrakesh-Aït Ben Haddou (200 km)

After breakfast, beginning of the trip, with a 4X4 vehicle and an English speaking driver, going through the High Atlas mountains on one of the most beautiful roads of Morocco. Ounila valley, Berber villages and beautiful landscapes until Ait Benhadou ksar (Unesco listed heritage and wonderful old ksar, well-known for the numerous movies made in it and its surroundings). Diner and overnight in a guest house or Kasbah.

Day 4 : Aït Ben haddou-Foumzguid-Chegaga (240km)

After breakfast, road towards chegaga via Taznakht, a small village reputed for its hand made berber carpets and then to the beautiful vallay of Tagmmout and its palmgroves, then off road toward the Erg Chegaga sand dunes for a magical starry night under tents. Dinner and overnight under tent.

Day 5 : Chegaga-Zagora (150 km)

After breakfast, road towards the Draa Valley and its palmgroves going along river. kasbahs and ksour are old berber clay villages and castles which you can visit. Once in Zagora, you may go until Tamegroute, small holly village with a coranic library, rural pottery village and mausoleum.You could as well go for a walk in the middle of these villages and gardens.Diner and overnight in a riad.

Day 6 : Zagora – Merzouga sand dunes (260 km)

After breakfast, off road back through the draa valley to reach Tazzarine and Merzouga, going through huge desert and lunar landscapes. Leaving the vehicle, you camel ride for 1 and a half hour until the camp. Diner and night under tents in Erg Chebbi, the most known sahara sand dunes in the south of Morocco. Once there you leave the vehicle to go on camel ride for around 1 hour to admire the sunset and back to the camp.

Day 7 : Merzouga- Dades Valley (230 km)

After breakfast, return towards Rissani and Erfoud to arrive, after 140 km of road, in the valley of Todgha, possibility of making a stroll in its palm grove and of appreciating the vertiginous cliffs and gorges, then continuation towards Boumalen Dades for the dinner and the night in a guest house in the heart of the valley.

Day 8 : Dades Valley – Ouarzazate- Marrakech (290 km)

After breakfast, departure in the morning for the discovery of the valley and the Gorges of Dades then crossing the roses valley and its main place ElKalaa M’ gouna, free lunch and continuation towards Ouarzazate by the palm grove of Skoura. Then you continue towards High atlas mountain and Tichka Pass (2260M) to arrive in late afternoon in Marrakech.Dinner and overnight in a riad.

Koutoubia Mosque

One of the most impressive sights in Marrakesh, the Koutoubia is one of the largest, most beautiful mosques in the western Muslim world. Its 225 foot tall minaret is a Hispano-Moresque masterpiece that is very similar to the Giralda of Seville.

Menara Gardens

This is a large landscaped garden with olive trees. At the heart of this garden, a large pond at the foot of a pavilion serves as a water reservoir to irrigate crops. It is a very peaceful place, away from the bustle of the city. and an ideal place for walks

Saadian Tombs

This site have been a burial ground before the Saadian period, but the earliest known burial dates from 1557 and all the main buildings were constructed under Sultan Ahmed el Mansour (1578-1603).it contains the tombs of over 100 more Saadian princes and members of the royal household.

Bahia Palace

A big old house and a set of houses were collected and converted into palace in the late nineteenth century by the Moroccan architect El Mekki behalf (1841-1900).

Jemaa El Fna night market

The famous UNESCO recognized city square, where you can discover a world of mysterious bazaars and a magical circus where fortune tellers, henna artists, fire eaters, snake charmers, dancing wild costumed monkeys, musicians and acrobats call home.

Souks of the Medina

They filled with food stalls selling olives, dates and sweets, and carts loaded with fruit and vegetables. The souks of Marrakesh are a major feature in Moroccan life, and among the country’s greatest attractions for travelers.

Marrakesh tannery

It is the most interesting part of visiting the tanneries is seeing the process itself and the equipment used, neither of which have changed for centuries. The majority of work is crafted by local artisans and then sold in the Marrakesh souks.

Marrakesh’s Royal Palace Passage

The Almohads built the palace in the 12th century on the site of their kasba, and it was partly remodeled by the Saadians in the 16th century. Historically it was one of the palaces owned by the Moroccan king, who employed some of the most talented craftsmen in the city for its construction.

Gueliz neighborhood

A place of wide boulevards not mazes of alleyways. It’s the modern part of Marrakesh where the offices, shops, restaurants are located, more generally, the daily life of Marrackshis and, in particular, Westerners who live in Marrakesh.

Majorelle and Yves St Laurent Garden

That famous place is located in the heart of Gueliz, Hivernage within the Imperial city of Marrakesh. It is one of the most delightful and stunning spots within this red walled city. A meticulously designed botanical garden through Marrakesh’s medina filled with acres of olive groves and palms.
